People will write a long post about how a transfem of color is evil abuser actually, with half the sources pulled out of their ass, deflect any and all criticism and get upset that you called them racist.
#yes its about that dr carmilla post. there is no ''official'' mechs wiki its all curated by fans its not a reputable source on carmilla#also their point that pilchard was killed by her means shes horrible is so?? theyd all kill him if he didnt capture them first#im sorry but people want to villainise a trans woman of color soo bad. theye literally all horrible to each other.#ALSO THEM CALLING STARDUST SOME RANDOM PERSON WHI ''ALLEGEDLY'' WORKS WITH MAKI???????? THEYRE LITERALLY FRIENDS#also every time this happens i remember a point about raph doing the same exact things to the mechs#but instead of an evil abuser shes quirky about it.#because. yeah.#cat talks

Vampires: The (almost) Ultimate List
It's no secret that I love any and all things related to vampires and vampirism, so I decided to use my spare time to curate a list of vampire-related media for my fellow enjoyers to consume!
Lil sidenote: these are all pieces of media that I personally enjoy. This is not a complete list of all encompassing vampire media by any means.
Classic Books:
Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu
Dracula by Bram Stoker
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Powers of Darkness (Icelandic Translation of Dracula)
Classic Films:
Nosferatu (1922)
Dracula (1931)
Vampyr (1932)
The Lost Boys (1987)
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Cronos (1993)
Blade (1998-2004)
Van Helsing (2004)
Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)
Dracula Untold (2014)
The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023)
Parodies & Cartoons:
Dracula: Dead and Loving it! (1995)
Hotel Transylvania (2012)
Scooby Doo & The Legend of the Vampire (2003)
More modern books:
Bunnicula by James & Deborah Howe
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
Eighth Grade Bites by Heather Brewer
Blood Oath by Christopher Farnsworth
The President's Vampire by Christopher Farnsworth
The Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice
TV Shows:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997)
Hellsing (2008)
Dark Shadows (1966)
Castlevania (I only really liked the first season) (2017)
YouTube Vids (this one is kinda all over the place):
Vampire Biology by Thought Potato
Dracula: Slime Tutorial
Dracula's Kill Count by Dead Meat
Cronos Kill Count by Dead Meat
Last, but not least, vampire media I'm looking forward to!:
Blade (videogame) (2024)
Blade (2025 Film)
Nosferatu (2024)
This list will most likely grow in size as I consume more and more media. Until then, toodles!
#i like making lists so this will most likely become a common theme for my blog#vampire media#leech speaks#personal favorites

i am having such a blast curating an ebook library tbh. there are 384 books. is it hoarding? yeah. am i gonna read them all? nah. but i am gonna read a lot of them and it's so cool.
so let me proselytize for just a sec
I'm sure you already know about Project Gutenberg where you can get Dracula, Little Women, any of your high school lit faves, Carmilla, Sherlock Holmes, and loads more. I just downloaded a copy of Oliver Twist bc I've always wanted to read it. Will I? Idk.
I also just found girlebooks which probably has lots of overlap with project gutenberg, but may be easier to browse. most are free and some are like $1-2ish. I have been wanting to read Willa Cather, whose writing my granny really liked. Also lots of Jane Austen, Virgina Woolf, idk, whatever you're into. Today I downloaded A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains which is a nonfiction collection of letters from a woman traveling solo through the rockies in 1873
When I pay for ebooks, I prefer them to be DRM free. but luckily, there's a website to help you find DRM-free sites. Personally I buy a lot of ebooks published by Tor, which are always DRM free (although you have to buy through major ebook retailers). (Murderbot would Hate DRM, obviously)
On the more technical side of things, I use calibre to organize my digital library. It took me a while to come around to it, but the level of customization is awesome!
All these things take a bit of learning (I am happy to help you) but here are some things I do with calibre: I always load in descriptions & make sure the book cover is the version I like. Then I set the tags to things that make sense to me. Once I click the "polish books" button, those changes get saved into the epub file
I use a Kobo ereader (btw i bought it on mercari - you don't need a new one!), and I have it set to automatically generate & update Kobo Collections based on my calibre tagging system. This is so helpful to have an "up next" list without having to make it on an e-ink screen
if you wanna get really hacky, look up some De-DRM and De-ASCM plugins for calibre. These can help you remove DRM from any .ascm files (such as, google ebooks you've bought in the past, or , ebooks you checked out from the library). It took me some trial and error to set up, but it took less than a day and the rewards have been infinite.
and finally, remember you can get a Seattle Public Library Card through their books unbanned project! I made sure to send a donation their way bc their collection is HUGE and has been great for me to find stuff I want to read. Don't forget your local library either
I still love physical books! But there are lots of benefits to curating an ebook library for yourself as well. If you want to give it a go, I hope some of these links get you on track <3

#styrien: a writing blog for laura, the narrator of le fanu’s carmilla and adapted for a variety of universes.
ask memes.
headcanons.
quick + dirty plot synopsis.
verses.
dni: minors, incest shippers, racists, transphobes, zionists, et cetera. we all know by now, right?
introduction: hi, my name is rose. i'm 28+, white, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. i work a full-time job and have a dog, so be assured activity will be sporadic - more on that later.
main rules: this blog is mutuals only, meaning that i only write with those who i follow and those who follow me. i enjoy shipping and plotting, but i have a full time job and a life outside this website. sometimes my responses ic and ooc will be sporadic, but it's not indicator of my interest. i do tend to be more likely to reply to things that are actively plotted and discussed. i also encourage you to curate your own spaces - if you need something tagged, my dms are open. if you no longer want to follow, i ask that you hardblock in order to prevent me from refollowing. i will forget.
activity notice: this is not a place for you if you expect constant in-character writing. this is not a place for you if you expect constant in-character writing. i do a lot of my thinking about my muses "aloud" on the dash. i do not follow people with time limits on interaction. when i follow you, know that it is with the intention of writing but never the expectation. i'm more than happy to cheer you on from the sidelines until we interact ic, or even never if we do. i get busy with life and work and i'm certain you do too. i rarely, if ever, unfollow for inactivity.
shipping: i do love shipping, and i am always down to clown. you can even send me shippy memes without us having to discuss it first as a kind of testing the waters thing.

Lucy had been about to knock on the door when the imp servant opened it for her. The difference in height would be made ever more evident in comparison to the servant. The empowered hellborn would smile as she was greeted, as if they weren't about to discuss something that could shake up the overlords' carefully curated status quo.
"Long time no see, Carmilla. As much as I'd love to get straight to business, I'd rather not just stand here in your doorway for it. Do you have a particular room in your manor for this discussion?"
This will prove to be an interesting meeting, Carmilla mused as she watched the limo drive up past the gate and to her manor from the living room window. As Lucille approached the front door, she nodded to one of the imp servants, who opened the door before it could be knocked on.
“Miss Lucille.” Carmilla greeted her guest.

Dear Future Wife: You, Me and Baseball
Hey Babe,
Red Sox won again today! They are killing the Blue Jays and finally gettin’ some leverage on the season, woot!
Speaking of baseball, do you like baseball? I hope so. And I hope you’re the kind who’ll enjoy sitting out on the porch with me on a Saturday afternoon listening to it on the radio. Maybe with a beer in one hand and your other arm around me.
Unless it’s a nailbiter, somewhere around the bottom of the fifth inning, my mind usually wanders for an inning or two. I suspect I’ll lean my face up and run my nose along the edge of your jaw. I’d follow it, I’m sure, with a gentle kiss there to see if you’re possibly in the mood. If so, I’ll nuzzle one just behind your ear. Tug on the lobe with my teeth.
Hopefully, you’ll reward me with a happy mumble, and I’ll lay the flat of my hand between your breasts so I can feel your heartbeat. I imagine it will be slow and steady and strong. Maybe I’d like to speed it up: I’ll plant a few more kisses- maybe sucking my way down the side of your throat- and I’ll stretch my hand down around your side to pull our hips closer together while we’re stuck on the bench. Kiss me, will you? Something slow and deep. I’ll let my hand drift back over your stomach, then further down… There goes the button on your jeans. Slide my fingers in towards Home Base…
At which point I’ll see if I can get you to squirm a little. Depending on whether I’m feeling needy myself, or just enjoying making you feel good right there on the porch, Joe Castiglione may just shout “Home Run!” on your behalf while I’m pressing my face against your cheek and telling you how grateful I am you’re around and how I hope I’m presently helping your mind fully clench around that fact.
When we’re done- maybe it’s the bottom of the sixth inning by then if the person on the mound showed some endurance- I’ll lay my head on your shoulder, expect your arm to tighten around me, and settle in to listen to the rest of the game… the noise of the breeze, birds, and street a perfect Saturday background soundtrack.
I have this thing about dreaming of perfect Saturdays. And you’re always there.
Your FW,
--- @thecarmillacurator

Favorite vampire media
Having spent too much of my life hyperfocused on vampires, I have a curated list of favorite vampires in media. In no particular order:
Dracula. It’s the original big name, it’s well written (except, possibly, for Braham Stoker’s strange ideas about american vernacular), and it has a good suspenseful plot.
Carmilla. Predates Dracula. Short, gay, and was adapted into a pretty good web series - although it’s so short, the web series is a very loose adaption.
In the Forests of the Night/Demon in my View, by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. First real, true, vampire books I read when I found In the Forests of the Night on my fifth grade teacher’s bookshelf one rainy recess. I had my grandparents take me to the bookstore to buy the second. Good fight scenes. Good lore.
Luminosity/Radiance, by Alicorn. Are they Twilight fanfic? yes, to a point. Are they only loosely definable as vampire stories? Yes, although I would argue that Alicorn’s Volturi are somewhat similar to a smaller scale version of the World of Darkness Camarilla. A rare piece of literature that was actively beneficial to my overall mental health.
World of Darkness - Vampire: the Masquerade. There’s so much to unpack here, I won’t even try. I’ve enjoyed pretty much everything I’ve read about this particular universe.
The Sims 4 vampire expansion. I once played for about ten hours straight with no regrets. I do wish they hadn’t named the master vampire Vladislaus Straud though, because my brain files him next to Strahd von Zarovich on one side and a student I have named Vladimir on the other.
Curse of Strahd, as written and the popular “Reloaded” version put out on Reddit. There’s a lot of good lore and I am deeply pleased by the way literally every single character has some kind of dark secret - whether they know it or not.
I would put the Vampire Lestat on here, but frankly, later books got so weird that I just can’t? I also never really got in to the whole teen paranormal romance genre, probably because I am asexual and mostly couldn’t relate to straight teenage romance fluff. Vampires can be sexy, but in my opinion, that’s a hunting tactic and should always be treated as such first and foremost.

You ever think how the show confirmed bumbleby’s feelings to be romantic by Nora and Adam and fans are still trying to deny it. It’s amusing how they still try to jump thru hoops to deny it or say crwby is still queerbaiting. I’m sorry they’re not shitty people that would do that like you want them because you don’t like it and ship them with other people. which is fine you can ship them with other people minus incest/pedophile/abusive ships.
dude honestly i don’t even pay them any mind anymore,,, like yeah it’s annoying to see and i will never understand committing my energy to posting about how much i dislike something on this hellsite, but tbh at this point there’s nothing that will change their mind
some people want something to get mad at and will fight to find ways to hate on even the most innocent attempts for representation. i remember the days of carmilla when people would try to argue they were abusive and not like,,,,, a vampire human couple
so many fans in this fandom in particular will always think that hating on media = critical analysis which is,,,, v untrue. they’ll see the word critical and assume that means that if they like something they can’t critique it and then will just hate indiscriminately
anyways, my biggest recommendation is to just get that block button out and use it liberally. you owe ppl nothing on here and the best thing to do is just curate that experience until u have a good time
